To imagine what the ecosystem would look like if there were no water guzzlers, all one has to do is refer back to before the FDB was founded in 1964.  At that time, there were less than 2,000 bighorn sheep in Nevada (from historic highs of 30,000).  Since the FDB started, there are now more than 125 guzzler projects on the mountains with the bighorn population estimated to be around 12,000…more than any other state in the lower 48!  Needless to say, by increasing habitat, the bighorns have thrived.  Combined, these projects add up to around 850,000 gallons of water saved on the mountain each year with 67 different species flourishing because of the volunteer efforts of extraordinary Nevadans.
