COMPLETED GUZZLER

Most of our projects include an 80’ x 40’ metal apron which catches rainwater which then feeds into three water tanks that hold 2,200 gallons each.  Due to the heavy plastic construction of these tanks, there is very little evaporation.  From the tanks, water flows from piping into the drinker (which is about the size of a 4-wheeler) which must be cemented into the ground.  Our projects are constructed in one day and the FDB usually has around 40 dedicated volunteers along with Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW) staff.  Estimates vary for the cost of these projects but are upwards of $25,000 when factoring in materials, transportation and volunteer hours.

ABOUT US >

A membership unselfishly dedicated to the welfare and conservation of Desert Bighorn and Nevada's wildlife.

The Fraternity of the Desert Bighorn (FDB) started in Las Vegas in 1964 and is the world’s oldest wild sheep conservation group.  At that time there were fewer than 2,000 bighorn sheep in Nevada (from historic highs of 30,000).  Now there are approximately 14,000 bighorn sheep in the state…more than any other in the lower 48.
